Overview
This module explores student-led innovation approaches in 3D worlds for either virtual or real products. Some suggested project themes will be offered as a guide, but you are expected to research and develop a project that engages in innovation.
- Specific project title and brief development (200 words)
- Novel ideas, innovations or approaches (300 words)
- Integration of 2D and 3D design skills
- Extensive concept design exploration and illustration
- Clear design development and rationalization
- Polished quality of finish artworks

Project Suggestions
RSA Design Briefs
Water Water (suggestion: beyond the basic requirements of this brief you could propose a 3D moving image sequence to communicate your ideas)
Streets Ahead This brief could be well communicated using architectural visualization methods
Sustainable Packaging (suitable for those interested in 3D applications for graphic design)
Wired Design challenging design for manufacture (DFM) brief
D&AD Brief
The 5th L'argus European Design Competition

Games Design Briefs
The Games projects below may become part of a collaboration of effort between students in design, Music, Computing Science and Health Science towards the Dare to be digital competition which will be launched next semester. Chosen projects may have the opportunity to develop their proposals through the major project in Semester 2 if entering the Dare to be Digital competition.
Games Design- The Rehabilitation game
Inclusive design challenge
Musical inclusion - product or games design
EPS manufacture
Nova Innovene - new material use
Habitat- Home and House

There are 2 such facilities on the Magee campus.
- D-Sculptor Pro (on 3D stand alone PC) Ideal for importing clay models for animation puropses. Free demo download from Computer Arts
- Dimensional Imaging (On site occasionally over 2006/07 - Hi resolution imaging of textured surfaces)
Some of the selected project briefs will encompass an element of the Emotional Domain within design. There are several Journals that are recommended for further reading these can be sourced by clicking Emotional Domain.
Information on Manufacture and materials can be found by clicking Manufacture.
