As 3d design evolves, this method of analysis can be used to inform other 3D disciplines outside of product design such as character development. Characters can have extra-ordinary abilities, however to be believable their physical characteristics need to be described clearly and devloped appropriately. Anthropometrical drawings are a good way of achieving this. They can also be used to plan 3D spaces in virtual worlds such as games level design. Within product design characters or animals can influence the function of a product (functional analogy), which in turn can lead to characterisation of the product.
Task:
Create an anthropometric drawing of yourself (Front, side and top view) and compare it within an ergonomic drawing with a 95%ile male and a 5%ile female (using dwg and dxf file formats). These drawings must be to scale.
Deliverables include:
- An accurate drawing by hand at the scale 1:5.
- A full scale (1:1) Spline drawing using 3DSMAX.
- Export a visual graphic into Adobe illustrator for graphic printing
