Final year show- graphic design competition

Final year BDes and BSc,

its been agreed at the Degree Show planning meeting that a competition will be open to all students in final year to design the promotional material for the degree show. The competition deadline is WEDNESDAY 24th MARCH. A voting website will be launched at this time where all design entries will be uploaded and you will all have the chance to choose your prefered design. You can submit several designs if desired.


Mac lab access

Design Students,

The Mac lab is open to 21:45 each night, however the building is locked at 22:00. Weekend access is also possible but you must contact Laureen in the School office and leave your name with her before the previous Friday. This is possible by email or phone (02871375396).

End of year show 2010 meeting

All final year BDes and BSc (UG Main) students.

There will be a meetingt o discuss the end of year show on Thursday 11th MArch as 14:30 in the design studio. I expect a full attendance as you will all be involved in the set up. In your absence you may be allocated a task.

A message from the Bauhaus

Second year design students Tracey Lee Clarke and Tom McClean have been having the time of their lives in the Erasmus 2009/2010 exchange programme at the Bauhaus Universität Weimar in Germany. This is a fantastic opportunity open to all second year students and there are several Universities across Europe open to do business. We also have the pleasure of having exchange students visiting Magee. See some of the images capturing the culture and the craic of this exchange programme.

1st year typography field trip

Stephen Campbell- Multimedia computing and design success

Stephen Campbell, year 2 BSc Multimedia Computing and Design students, who is also an Irish international paralympic swimmer is one of the first people to be selected for the Institute of Sport’s Career Athlete Development Programme. To read more click here

Design Competition: Mental Health Awareness

Open Your Mind Art Competition 2010

The Open Your Mind Project is running an Art Competition in the University of Ulster, Art College.

Students are asked to submit original pieces that cost them no more that £40 to produce.

Students should submit their pieces to the Student Union office in the Art College by 12pm on the 25th February.
No submissions will be accepted after this time.

Students are asked to submit their name, address, telephone number and email address along with their artwork.

Photography Competition

Enjoy taking pictures? Then please enter our “Magee’s Got Talent Open Photography Competition”!

We are looking for images of Magee and its people, setting and region. We are interested in pictures ranging from the beautiful, serious or meaningful to the humorous or quirky. Pictures can be any genre (e.g. portraits, landscapes, architectural, action shots, events, everyday life).
