Hi everyone!
you are all warmly invited to the opening session of the Caffeine Addicts Culture Club
this Thursday (October 1st) at 1.15 in "the cafe" (MQ125)
There will be:
Very Good Coffee (Colombian, freshly brewed) - 50 p a mug
Excellent Biscuits (Chocolate Gingers or Oat and Cranberry) - 50p for 2 biscuits
and a little bit of culture.
This Thursday that will be me - playing my double-bass - one beautiful piece and one funny one (it's alright I'll tell you which one is which before I start!)
The plan is to do this each week except the weeks that the new memorial concerts are happening in Christchurch (which I think are the second Thursday in each month). I already have some more "culture" lined up (presentations on photography and on the moving image) and I'm hoping/expecting that, towards the end of each semester, we can all of us suggest to some students that a particular piece of work would be just right for showing in the Culture Club. (I know of at least 2 dance pieces from last year that would be perfect and I'm persuading a music student to play a beautiful piano piece I heard her practising last week).
All contributions, ideas and suggestions will be most gratefully received. Just send me an email or grab me in passing in the corridor (actually, better send me an email!). What I'm looking for is high-quality, thought-or emotion-provoking live presentations of work. I'm thinking that it will be a really good way to combine my two favourite things - Coffee and Art - without taking up too much time (everyone is welcome to bring their own lunch along) and also act as a showcase to each other for all the amazing things that are actually going on in this building.
