Overview
This module introduces students to the world of Virtual 3d. It explores general form based study and visual imaging effects on form. It provides an opportunity to explore the uses of 3D visual communication for product design or animation projects. It introduces students to problem based project briefs.
There are several introductory projects and a major project, which must be completed, all with tight deadlines.
Coursework Details
Speed Drawing : This is a studio class which will be assessed. During semester a speed drawing class will be conducted. This will improve your ability to communicate as a designer using the narrative of line drawing.
Transitional Form: 3D forms are often constructed from sectional profiles which flow in a balanced way from one shape to the other. Students design and build their own forms based on random shapes within a confined 3D space. more>>
Visual Imaging: Some simple geometric shapes can appear different depending on the surface visual effect applied. Students will explore different methods of affecting the appearance of form without altering it physically. more>>
Major Project: Students will learn about following a deisgn process towards creative prblem solving which is the single most important aspect of being a designer in any discipline. The project challenge this year is a live brief which will be shown on TV. For more see C9TV Sting Brief
Portfolio: Students will be expected to start developing your portfolio of visual work as an important tool in seeking employment within the design industry. The outcomes to the above projects will expected to be hosted as a multimedia portfolio.
