HEIF FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

Please take time to read the following opportunities carefully.

The Higher Education Innovation Fund competitions have been launched for 2007/08 by the Office of Innovation and Faculty Enterprise Committees. There are 5 different opportunities which I wish to make you aware of, and invite applications.

1. Cross Faculty Awards: These are competitive bids up to a value of £5,000 and must be collaborative efforts with 2 or more Faculties. There is a joint pot of £45,000 across 6 Faculties. More than one application is permitted. Deadline 16^th Jan 2008
2. Faculty Enterprise Awards:These are competitive bids for the Faculty of Arts only (but can be collaborative between Schools), and are invited in two categories (A) up to £3,000 and (B) up to £1,750. There is a fund of £7,000 available. Deadline 16^th Jan 2008
3. Student Innovation Generation competition:Encourages enterprise activity at Postgraduate and Undergraduate levels. There will be 3 prizes of £750, £500 and £250 and applicants will be supported through mentoring as appropriate to other opportunities. Deadline 8^th Feb 2008.  Please promote this with your students. An email will be sent directly to all students.
4. Faculty Business and Community Fellowship: This staff award is for £1,000 to spend on travel and subsistence, conference attendance, consumables or small equipment purchase purposes and prepares the applicant for the University Distinguished Business Fellowship. Deadline 7^th March 2008
5. Faculty Initiative: A budget of £3,000 has been set up to support enterprise or outreach activities which may not be suitable for the Cross Faculty or Faculty Enterprise competitions or may not meet all the criteria for these It can be applied for at any time throughout the year (from now, but no later than 31^st March 2008) and should be a maximum of £500.
