The 2006/07 Business plan competition is launched for Academic staff. The Research Councils encourage applications from a wide range of business models including: service, lifestyle, social enterprises, joint ventures and licensing to established companies. The Arts had good success in 2003, with 4 Shortlisted candidates from Art & Design including Norman Lawrence, Dr Denise Gray, Dr Julie Soden and Justin Magee. They took part in the initial training programmes but projects were not developed enough to proceed to the finals. Nevertheless it was a worthwhilre activity and included some useful staff training and funding for successful entrants.
