Skeletal Dance- Arranged Motion

The Skeletal Dance - Arranged motion, derrived from "range of motion" (ROM) of human anatomy has taken a leap forward. Fiona McElroy and Justin Magee secured funding from DCAL as part of creativity month to help further the project. The work was a lead on from Justin Magee's PhD into "3D Digital modelling of spinal posture", where an articulated model of normative skeletal anatomy was developed relating to clinical publications on posture, bone morphology and ROM. Following an ethical approval and research governance process, a contortionist (Anita Woods) was choreographed by Stevie Prickett to preform a dance based on the clinical motions of the spine. Together with Joseph Campo and a team of film makers the project was shot using green screen at UTV, Havlock House Belfast, while Anita wore the Animazoo IGS 190 motion capture suit for inclusion in the cineclectic project. Animator Jens Meisner from digital stages is currently processing the mocap data captured from the suit for integration into 3DSMAX. Post editing will now take place and we hope to have the final work completed soon.
